Welcome to the home of Lyfta’s A Year of Values course: a story-led journey designed to help young people explore the values that shape how we live, learn, and relate to one another.

Through real-world stories and reflective discussion, this course invites students to explore values such as respect, empathy, resilience, responsibility, and aspiration in the real world.

What’s inside the Teacher Toolkit?

Inside the Teacher Toolkit, you’ll find everything you need to confidently deliver the programme in your classroom:

✅ An overview of the Year of Values course structure and lesson links

✅ Guidance on Lyfta’s human connection method and relational pedagogy

✅ Curriculum links across PSHE, Citizenship and wider curriculum areas

✅ Guidance on supporting whole-school values and ethos

✅ Insights into how values are explored through real-world stories and reflective discussion

The toolkit is designed to help teachers understand both the practical structure of the course and the pedagogical thinking behind it, supporting meaningful dialogue and reflection in the classroom.

What is the Year of Values course?

The Year of Values is a 36-lesson programme organised into six thematic units (one per half term), each exploring a core value through real human stories and reflective discussion.

The six units are:

  1. Respect and Inclusion

  2. Compassion and Empathy

  3. Courage and Resilience

  4. Perseverance and Growth

  5. Stewardship and Responsibility

  6. Aspiration and Gratitude

Across the programme, students encounter people and communities from around the world, helping them develop curiosity, empathy and a broader understanding of different perspectives and experiences.

Each unit invites students to explore how values appear in everyday life, through actions, choices, challenges and relationships.
